In Legions of Tékumel units of 12 figures represent roughly 4,000 combatants and they are the maneuver unit of the game. For Tsolyánu, a full strength legion will have two such units, traditionally forming up as the left and right wing of the Legion. In other armies, such as Mu'ugalavyá, the unit represents an entire Legion of 5,000. Differences in strength are considered in the units' combat stats.

This means an army of 12 such units will represent around 48,000 combatants. On the tabletop, this would mean about 144 figures for the combat units, plus a few figures for the commanders and the magical contingents. You can expect to play a battle with 12 units on a 4' x 6' table and resolve the game in less than four hours.
Other features of the game include:
- Rules for army deployment according to the Military Formations of Tékumel
- Effects of unit formations that are key to a unit's effectiveness
- Unit cards with stats for all the units of the Five Empires and their Allies
- Combine Unit and Formation Cards in the Tarot Cards sized holders

When you change formation, just swap out the formation card. - Pre-Battle Challenges
- Command and control system
- Magic system that is easily playable and does not imbalance the game
- Fast play to resolve a large battle in only a few hours
